Dotsiko is a village that has retained its traditional color, perhaps because it is somewhat isolated from Grevena and the secular life found in other villages of the prefecture during the summer. The village is inhabited mainly in the summer by 500 people.
“Next to the parking lot in the main square of the village, visitors will admire its stone bridge, but also can make a break for coffee or lunch under the plane tree.”
Dotsiko’s most houses are made from traditional stone, and built around 1900. The astonishing beauty of the village is completed at the main square with the single arched stone bridge, which was built at the highest altitude (1.060 m.). Among all other stone bridges of Macedonia this is the only one built inside a settlement.
The bridge allows communication in the two districts of the village by bridging the river Dotsikiotis, a tributary of the Venetikos river.
The church of Agios Athanasios is also of particular interest to visitors. It was built in 1865 and today several hagiographies and icons are good preserved.
The construction of the bridge is first mentioned in 1804 and is attributed to craftsmen from Ioannina. The bridge of Dotsiko, has a total length of 24 m., width 2.40 m. and height 4 m. It was declared as a historical monument by the Ministry of Culture in 1990.
